Controls Engineer
Azon is a world leader in technology used in the manufacture of thermally efficient aluminum window, storefront, curtain wall and specialty chemical products. Azon is headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan with operations in the United States, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. We currently have an outstanding opportunity for a Controls Engineer.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing PLC systems for Azon custom machinery used in the processing of Azon polyurethane chemicals. Our Controls Engineers assist internal customers and visit customer locations during new machinery installations or to address issues that may arise.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control programs for electrical machinery and systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate controls into overall system design
- Perform testing and validation of control systems
- Develop, visualize, and optimize PLC processes to ensure system is operating at full capacity
- Identify fault diagnostics and perform maintenance as needed
- Train internal and external customers on proper use of PLC systems
- Provide customer service and technical support to internal and external customers
- Work within project timelines and budgets
- Travel to customer facilities to install, maintain, and upgrade software and hardware
Education, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- Two years of experience in automated controls engineering
- Experience programming PLC and HMI
- Studio 5000, RS Logix 500, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD experience required
- Experience with ladder logic
- Strong electrical and mechanical expertise and experience
- Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical schematics
- Familiar with Motion and Safety-Over-Ethernet
