Field Service Technician

Azon is a world leader in technology used in the manufacture of thermally efficient aluminum window, storefront, curtain wall and specialty chemical products. Azon is headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan with operations in the United States, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. We currently have an opportunity for a Field Service Technician.

The Field Service Technician plays a key role in supporting Azon’s custom machinery, which is integral to processing our polyurethane thermal barrier systems. This position involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of specialized equipment. Field Service Technicians also conduct quarterly quality assurance visits to customer sites to inspect production practices, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure adherence to established quality standards. Technicians receive comprehensive, hands-on training under the guidance of an experienced service manager to ensure safe and effective operation of all Azon machinery. The ideal candidate is a self-driven problem solver with strong technical aptitude and a customer-focused mindset.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install new machinery at customer facilities worldwide
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all aspects of Azon machinery including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Train customer machine operators and technicians on machinery setup, operation, preventative maintenance, repair, and safety guidelines
  • Conduct quality audit visits for North American customer locations on a quarterly basis
  • Complete and submit field reports that detail the visit and work completed
  • Communicate accurately and professionally with customers regarding all machinery and chemical related issues and questions
  • Inform customers of Azon products and services that may improve their operating efficiency
  • When not in the field, technicians assist with assembling and testing new machinery
  • Provide parts quotes to customers
  • Regularly deliver over-the-phone technical support to customers
  • Maintain all required expense and travel reports
  • Travel requirements of 50% within the U.S. and Canada
  • International travel may be required 1-2 times per year

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Technical degree or 5 years installing and maintaining machinery preferred
  • Mechanical inspection and diagnostics experience
  • Electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Quality and customer service focus
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints
  • Logical thinking, problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Perform work in a safety conscious manner
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift 50-75 pounds
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
