R&D Lab Technician (Part Time / Day Shift)
Azon is a world leader in technology used in the manufacture of thermally efficient aluminum window, storefront, curtain wall and specialty chemical products. Azon is headquartered in Kalamazoo, Michigan with operations in the United States, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. We currently have an opportunity for an R&D Lab Technician.
In this role, the R&D Lab Technician is responsible for new product development, raw material evaluation, and customer support of solid, foam, and grouting polyurethane products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with polyurethane research experimentation under direction of R and D personnel
- Prepares and evaluates polyurethane products per specified procedures / methodologies for conformance to physical and performance requirements
- Evaluates liquid raw materials and formulated blends for compliance to specifications
- Works with processing equipment to prepare and test samples for determination of physical properties
- Works with laboratory personnel to support customers and R&D work
- Prepares formulated polyurethanes for customer evaluation and approval
Education, Skills and Experience:
- Pursuing a college education in Chemistry or related field
- One year of chemistry lab experience preferred
- Ability to understand, observe, record, and report results of experimentation
- Capable of following precise verbal and written directions
- Ability to effectively manage time and multitask numerous project activities
- Excellent mathematical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Impeccable attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
- Ability to analyze, problem solve and develop solutions
- Comprehensive understanding of Outlook, Excel and Word
- Capable of lifting five-gallon containers weighing up to 50 lbs.
